Every important endeavor requires leadership. The National Association to PROTECT Children is the dream and hard work of many people across the United States. Some have played a founding role by making generous financial contributions. Others gave small amounts of money but huge amounts of heart. They are all our founders.

In April of 2003, founding PROTECT contributors and national advisory board members, David Walton and Eve Shatto Walton made a proposal for helping our Association get off the ground. They would write checks for $1,000 and then challenge 100 others to do the same. This $100,000 would become the seed money to keep PROTECT's doors open during its difficult first years.

We thank this growing circle of supporters—PROTECT's One Hundred Friends—for their critical role in establishing the National Association to PROTECT Children.

Friends' contributions are recognized with a Life Membership in the National Association to PROTECT Children for themselves and a designee, a permanent inscription at PROTECT's national headquarters, a Founder's Plaque and 100 Friends lapel pin, and the knowledge that they were among the earliest financial backers of America's most important grassroots lobby.
