Report: Caring for children of mentally ill parents Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 March 2009
The Center for an Urban Future's journal Child Welfare Watch focuses this month on "Caring for Children of Mentally Ill Parents."

From the Report:

"...even in times when funds were more available, government has made only modest progress toward addressing the needs of low-income families coping with mental illness. Mothers with mental illness have received little attention from scholars or policy makers. Only a handful of researchers have focused on their care and treatment. Policy makers tend to focus either on the needs of children, or on the needs of the mentally ill. With this issue of Child Welfare Watch, we hope to focus attention on the needs of both—parents with mental illness and their children—and to show that meaningful solutions are inextricably intertwined across the sectors and generations."
