Joe R. Lansdale is the Grandmaster and
Founder of Shen Chuan, Martial Science, a modern interpretation of
martial arts, and has been recognized by The International Martial Arts Hall of Fame four times, and is recognized by The World Martial Arts Alliance as Founder/Grandmaster. He has also been recognized by The Texas Martial Arts Hall of Fame
and others. He holds dan ranks in numerous martial arts, among them
Hapkido, Jujitsu, Aikijujitsu, Taekwondo, Combat Kempo-Jujitsu,
Scientific Street Fighting and others. He has been a student and
instructor of the martial arts for 39 years and has produced a number
of recognized martial artists.
He is also the author of numerous novels and shorter works, many of them award winners. Among his awards are The Edgar for Best Novel, Six Bram Stoker Awards for shorter works, The British Fantasy Award, The Herodotus Award For Historical Fiction, The Ink Pot Award for contributions to Fantasy and Science Fiction, and others.
Many of his works have been adapted to comics or optioned for screen, and recently Bubba Hotep, starring Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis, directed by Don Coscarelli, was filmed.
