Flora Colao, CSW
Therapist and Consultant Flora Colao, CSW is a social worker and therapist who has been treating children and families since 1975. She specializes in the treatment of child abuse and trauma and offers training programs nationwide. As an outgrowth of her work with trauma survivors, she also has extensive experience working with childhood grief issues. Flora Colao teaches personal safety and crime prevention directly to children and teenagers. She conducts workshops for parents and professionals about teaching children personal safety in positive, non-alarmist ways. Flora Colao is the co-author of the book Your Children Should Know (Harper and Row 1987). Because of her wide range of experience with children, Flora Colao is able to understand and teach others how children perceive their environment as well as how they think and react in different situations. Flora Colao has appeared as an expert witness in numerous county, state and federal court cases. She has worked as a consultant to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in addition to a variety of public and private social service, law enforcement, educational and community agencies. Her work has received international media recognition including; The New York Times, Newsweek, the Today Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, Phil Donahue, Geraldo and Der Spiegel. She has appeared in several TV specials and in four documentaries.
