* Note: This Get Local campaign is designed to help citizens be effective advocates for child protection  in their own communities. Participants in this campaign do not represent PROTECT, unless specifically authorized.

On April 16th, ABC's 20/20 aired a show on the murder of Somer Thompson, a seven year-old Florida girl who was abducted on her way home from school. Jarred_Mitchell_Harrell
The show exposed the shocking story of Jarred Harrell, the suspect now accused in the killing.

Harrell was under investigation for child pornography two months before the murder, but he remained at large because overworked police had not examined his computer yet.

When they finally did, ABC reports, they found "video with horrifying images of Harrell molesting a three year-old" relative.

Whether Harrell is guilty of the murder of Somer Thompson or not, the case highlights the reckless danger of failing to examine the urgent evidence sitting in America's backlog of child pornography cases.
