Megan's Law... GPS tracking devices... predator-free zones... You've heard about sex offenders in your community, but how safe is your family?

The truth is most of California's 106,000 registered sex offenders are under almost no supervision at all. Politicians love to talk tough about sex offenders, but when it comes to keeping known sexual predators away from your children, they just won't get serious. You can change that now.

Join the California Real Safety Coalition!
PROTECT joined the California Real Safety Coalition and your group can too! The Real Safety Coalition is made up of conservatives and liberals, parents and peace officers, victim's rights advocates and concerned neighbors. We come from all walks of life, but we all agree on one thing: If California releases known sex offenders into our communties, it should be prepared to watch them like a hawk.

We call for four commonsense reforms that everyone can agree on:

1. Intensive supervision for all sex offenders who target children
Simply registering a name and address is not real safety. But intensive probation or parole can include restrictions on contact with children, a ban on going where children congregate, searches of the home, mandatory treatment, drug tests and much more.

2. 10-year minimum period of surveillance
Every day that a known predator is kept under supervision makes children safer. We must increase the time released sex offenders spend on probation and parole.

3. Lifetime probation and parole for repeat offenders
There is no known cure for pedophiles. Criminals who have been convicted of sexually assaulting children belong in prison. But if and when they are released, we must keep them under close surveillance and containment.

4. Better community notification
Across California, sex offenders are being placed into group homes without any warning to neighbors. Sex offenders should be required to register before leaving prison, not after. And law enforcement and the public should be notified before sex offenders are placed together in the community.
