The North Carolina Senate has passed legislation to increase the penalty for child pornography possession, sending it on to the State's House of Representatives.

Senate Bill 132 raises the penalty for possession four felony classes. Currently, possession of images or movies of child sexual abuse is the same criminal penalty as cockfighting or operating an illegal beach bingo game. PROTECT has been lobbying the North Carolina legislature to strengthen its outrageous child pornography laws since last year.
