Arizona pastors arrested for failing to report child abuse Print E-mail

Two pastors in Phoenix, AZ were recently arrested for failing to notify law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services when they learned of a father who was sexually abusing his two daughters.

Authorities say the pastors had a conversation at their church with the father and older daughter in 2008 about the father touching his daughter inappropriately. The pastors told the daughter that she should forgive her father because he was "repentant".

The suspect stopped abusing that daughter following the conversation with the pastors, but continued sexually abusing his younger daughter, according to police. The father was arrested last month after the younger daughter told a neighbor about the abuse, who thankfully notified police.
