The Searcy, Arkansas Daily Citizen has published an in-depth article about last week's Crimes Against Children Roundtable, held at the state capitol in Little Rock.
The roundtable, conducted at the request of the Arkansas Legislative Task Force on Abused and Neglected Children, was moderated by PROTECT's sister organization, Promise to Protect. "The task force heard a panel of experts address why motivation, commitment and excellence at all professional levels are important, as well as how to measure the performance of those charged with protecting children," writes the paper.
Roundtable comments included in the story include:
Greg Weber, Assistant Attorney General, Wisconsin: "We're all in this together.... When it (investigation and prosecution) is done wrong, poorly or incompetently, children suffer."
David Montague, Assistant District Attorney, Tarrant County, Texas: "What you take to a jury tells where the prosecuting attorney's priorities are.... Are they trying tough cases or are they trying lay-downs?"
H.G. Foster, Prosecuting Attorney (elected), 20th District, Arkansas: "If my conviction rate is really high, I'm wimping out."
