The Public Guardian of Cook County, Illinois is "asking a judge to halt a budget plan to slash psychological services for roughly 100 wards who were turned over to the state," reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
Cook County Public Guardian Robert F. Harris filed a lawsuit this week,
seeking an injunction against the Governor and the Illinois Department
of Children and Family Services.
"If we lost [these services], these kids will deteriorate to the point
where they can't go to foster homes, can't be adopted, they can't go
back to their parents," said Harris. "And it will cost the state more
to institutionalize these children. It's going to be more money...and
these children have a right to these services to this appropriate care,
including counseling services."
