Sweetheart sentence for politician with fans Print E-mail

Mayor Thomas Adams will have to fit 30 days of "periodic imprisonment" into his otherwise free schedule, after getting a sweetheart sentence for child pornography.

Judge Patricia Golden "went along with a recommendation from a pre-sentencing investigation and prosecutor Patricia Fix's suggestion that Adams is suitable for probation," reports the Lake County News-Sun.

Authorities say the Mayor sent child pornography over the Internet and "discussed the possibility of having sex with an undercover agent's teenage sons."

"About 30 people submitted letters of support to the court" for Adams, says the Chicago press service Chicago Breaking News. Adams resigned his jobs as Mayor and Lake County Republican Party chairman after his arrest in 2006.
