Dogfighting at daycare Print E-mail

Chicago police have arrested 3 people and rescued 9 dogs at a daycare center.

The dogs suffered horrific injuries and required hospitalization. Many were being kept and trained at the children’s daycare facility,  with 10 children at the center.

The daycare operator insisted she wasn’t involved, though her husband was one of three charged with felony dogfighting. She has since complied with DCFS to give over her daycare license.

The Illinois DCFS received complaints about the dogs and made 4 visits to the house, finding “no evidence of the dogs in the day-care area.”  The garage had bloodstained floors, blood along the sides of a car and dogfighting paraphernalia. One of the vicious fighting dogs was being kept ten feet from the swing set.

All of the dogs are being treated at the Animal Welfare League in Chicago and are expected to recover.
