A Maryland school teacher serving a 4 year sentence for taking pornographic photos of a student has been freed after serving only 10 months. Alan Beier, 54, was released as part of a plea deal in an abuse case against a second student.

According to the Baltimore Examiner, Beier "was released from prison after agreeing not to appeal either of the convictions." Media reports say charges were dropped in a case involving a third victim.

The paper reports that Howard Circuit Judge Diane Leasure agreed to the plea bargain. "In return for Beier's guilty plea, prosecutors didn't object when defense attorneys asked the judge to grant Beier time served..."
