Do GPS gadgets really keep us safe? Print E-mail
Friday, 23 July 2010 00:00

We know a GPS gadget is really a gadget!  Perhaps politicians and the media are starting to get it.

Massachusetts news reports this year mention situations showing that GPS devices aimed at controlling sexual predators don't keep the public safe.  A GPS device may tell you where someone is, but they can't tell anyone what the wearer is doing.

MyFoxBoston.com reported that a "registered" sex offender was seen in the children's section of a local Lowell library. Also reported on was a convicted rapist in Framingham who raped a woman while wearing his GPS device and subsequently cut the device off and raped her again.
