We've noted before on the Newswire that many judges seem to be frustrated psychologists practicing outside their field of training.
Carson City, Nevada Judge William Maddox is apparently no exception.
Maddox held forth in his courtroom at great length recently about
"impulse control," as he sentenced a 36-year old man on 10 counts of
child pornography possession. But Maddox couldn't seem to control his
own impulse to express his surprising views on sex with children.
"It's my understanding that most men are sexually attracted to
young women," said Judge Maddox, according to court transcripts
published by the Nevada Appeal.
"When I say young women I don't just mean women that... you should be
attracted to. I mean women from the time they're 1 all the way up until
they're 100." Maddox went on to argue that an adult "having sex with a
girl between 12 and 16 is prohibited because we say it's prohibited," a
law that "flies in the face of our, I guess for lack of a better
description, our normal impulses."
