The murder of three New Jersey students in August made national news and gripped the City of Newark in a debate over street and gang violence.
One month later, the media frenzy has shifted to immigration policy,
with many asking how suspect Jose Carranza was allowed out of jail on
prior charges, despite the fact that he was in the country illegally.
Now a report in the New York Times exposes the real story
behind the Newark murders. This story is certain to be ignored far and
wide. The man accused of murdering three teens had already been charged
twice with sexually assaulting an 8-year old girl, and he was not only
released but given possession of that child. According to the paper,
the girl was "still in [Carranza's] care at the time of the killings."
Need help understanding how such madness gets ignored by the news media? Here are a few simple suggestions.
The next time you hear a political operative debating whether Newark
Mayor Cory Booker is fit to control street crime, ask where the outrage
is over crimes against children. The next time you hear an
anti-immigration activist raging about the crimes of illegals, ask
where the outrage is over American courts treating children as chattel.
And the next time you hear legal experts debating who is entitled to
bail, ask why they are so silent about who is entitled to protection.
