Predatory ex-principal finally stopped? Print E-mail

Det. Tom Evans' smiling face was a regular sight at the Tennessee statehouse, when he worked with PROTECT to win child rescue funding. But his mug wasn't smiling when he showed up to meet "Pervey53daddyjoe."

Evans and his Knoxville Police Department unit were waiting this week at an East Tennessee motel to arrest a suspect who thought he was meeting a mother and her eight year-old daughter for sex. The suspect--a former elementary school teacher, Toys R Us clerk and volunteer who worked with kids--brought along a video camera for the encounter.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel is reporting on some of the online exchanges between Evans and the suspect, giving a glimpse of the real face of child predators: a smiling one, using a position of trust to prey on children.

"All tho u read some bad things about some," wrote Pervey53daddyjoe, "I retired in 2007 after being a teacher/principal for 30 years.... I can talk to her and then I can really chat her up good if u want me to..."

Is it worth spending taxpayer money to keep predatory pedophiles like Pervey53daddyjoe away from children? A lot of politicians just won't answer "Yes" to that question without serious pressure. Thanks to you and warriors like Tom Evans, PROTECT is keeping that pressure on... in Tennessee and across America, getting children rescued as we go.
