So much for legendary Texas justice. A Brown County, Texas jury has sentenced a foster mother to probation for sexually assaulting a 13-year old and giving birth to his child. The verdict came after defense attorney Kirby Roberts called the victim a "predator" and said, "young predators are fully capable of grooming their targets." Phylecia Humphries, 26, could have gotten up to 20 years in prison, reports the Abilene Reporter News. Instead, the jury deliberated for five hours on the sentence, "sending out several notes to the judge before agreeing on the punishment." District Judge Stephen Ellis "added 90 days in jail" to the sentence. Humphries has been indicted for raping another foster child in her custody. Meanwhile, the victim in this case, now 17, says "he wants custody of the child he fathered after he graduates high school."
